The Château Le Grand Verdus vineyard extends across more than 50 parcels spread between the communes of Sadirac, Bonnetan and Lignan-de-Bordeaux, in the heart of the Créonnais. The Grande Réserve originates from a mosaic of clay-limestone terroirs, veritable geological gems of the estate. These soils composed of clay and limestone, sometimes enriched with elevated graves, impart structure, minerality and freshness to the wine. The estate benefits from a remarkable 80-metre elevation range and differentiated microclimates that favour the singular expression of each parcel. Since 2020, the entire vineyard has been farmed organically, certified from the 2023 vintage onwards.

The grapes for the Grande Réserve come from a stringent selection: only 6 to 8 bunches per vine, equivalent to one bottle per plant, with yields reduced to 25-30 hl/ha. Manual harvest and meticulous sorting precede gentle vinification with manual pumping-over in small concrete tanks, with 3 to 4 weeks maceration at 28-30°C. Delicate vertical pressing, partial malolactic fermentation in barrels. Ageing for 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels of 225 and 400 litres, 40% new wood. Limited rackings to preserve fruit freshness. Individual tasting of every barrel before final blending, light fining and filtration before bottling. Production: 12,000 bottles.
