Champagne Philipponnat

Champagne Philipponnat is a historic house established in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ since 1522, renowned for its exceptional vineyard holdings dominated by Pinot Noir. Owner of 20 hectares including the legendary Clos des Goisses, the house has been led since 2000 by Charles Philipponnat, a direct descendant of the founding family. Thierry Garnier, cellar master since 1993, crafts Champagnes of remarkable precision and intensity, characterised by a non-oxidative approach and the use of the solera process under oak.

The Cuvée Léon 2014 from Philipponnat is a Champagne of rare distinction, a blanc de noirs crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir sourced from a single Grand Cru parcel in the hamlet of Le Léon, between Aÿ and Dizy. Entirely vinified in oak and presented in an extra-brut style, this serious, vinous champagne expresses one of the house's most historic terroirs, cultivated since 1522.
