Château Des Bachelards

Château des Bachelards is an exceptional estate located in Fleurie, in the heart of Beaujolais. Founded around 1100 by the Benedictine monks of Cluny, the estate spans 18 hectares across the appellations Fleurie, Saint-Amour and Moulin-à-Vent. A pioneer of organic and biodynamic farming in the region, the château has been triple certified organic, Demeter and Biodyvin since 2015. The Clos des Bachelards, the only monopoly in Fleurie, produces Gamay wines of exceptional elegance, acclaimed by international critics with scores up to 98/100 from James Suckling. Owned by Matthieu Gufflet since 2022, the estate perpetuates exacting viticulture, favouring long vinifications and ageing in large oak casks.

Château des Bachelards Comtesse de Vazeilles Le Clos 2020 is the ultimate expression of Gamay in Beaujolais. A historic monopole of the Fleurie appellation, this cuvée from very old vines (70 to 100 years) farmed under Demeter-certified biodynamics reveals a unique terroir of blue clays found nowhere else in the region. The 2020 vintage, regarded as the vintage of the decade in Beaujolais, delivers a wine of rare concentration and precision, rated 98/100 by James Suckling.

L'avis de Vitis Epicuria

Vin dense, aux arômes complexes et à l'équilibre bluffant. A l'aveugle, il n'est pas évident d'en deviner l'origine tant il apparaît plus structuré et riche que la plupart des vins de la région. je l'aurais presque confondu avec un Cabernet Franc bien mûr de la vallée de la Loire ou peut-être même de Toscane.. J'aurais eu tout faut ! C'est un des vins les plus impressionnants que j'ai goùuté dans la région.
