Château Haut Brion

Château Haut-Brion, located in Pessac within the Pessac-Léognan appellation, is the only Premier Grand Cru Classé 1855 outside the Médoc. Owned by the Dillon family since 1935, the estate extends over 51 hectares of Günzian gravel soils and produces exceptional red wines based on Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, as well as a rare white. Managed by Prince Robert of Luxembourg and vinified by Jean-Philippe Delmas, third generation of this winemaking dynasty, Haut-Brion embodies five centuries of viticultural history and continuous innovation.

The Pessac-Léognan Premier Grand Cru Classé 1855 from Château Haut-Brion in the 2020 vintage marks the culmination of a trilogy of great Bordeaux vintages. The only First Growth outside the Médoc, this wine blends 43% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Cabernet Franc — an unusually high proportion of Merlot for a Left Bank First Growth. With 100-point scores from Wine Advocate, James Suckling and Jeb Dunnuck, the 2020 confirms the historical stature of this estate founded in the 16th century on the gravelly terrace of Pessac.
