Château Rieussec

Château Rieussec, Premier Cru Classé in 1855, stands as one of the most prestigious estates in Sauternes. Located in Fargues, directly neighbouring Château d'Yquem, the property has been owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) since 1984. With 93 hectares of vineyards planted to 90% Sémillon on sandy-clay gravels, Rieussec produces powerful yet elegant sweet wines, distinguished by exceptional aromatic richness and remarkable ageing potential. Since 2018, Saskia de Rothschild and technical director Éric Kohler have led the estate's organic conversion, completed in 2024.
