Château Ausone

Château Ausone, set on the limestone slopes of Saint-Émilion, is one of the jewels of Bordeaux's Right Bank. Rooted in history since 1690, this 7-hectare estate belongs to the Vauthier family — Alain and his children Pauline and Édouard represent the eleventh generation today. Blending equal parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot from fifty-year-old vines on a terroir of clay and starfish limestone on south-facing slopes, Ausone produces wines of exceptional finesse, mineral tension and ageing potential. Since 2022, the estate has chosen not to feature in the official Saint-Émilion classification, asserting its independence and confidence in the quality of its vineyard.
