Château Valandraud

Château Valandraud, promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé status in the 2012 Saint-Émilion classification, epitomizes the spectacular success of Bordeaux's garagiste movement. Founded in 1991 by Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud on a mere 0.6 hectares in the Fongaban valley, the estate now extends to nearly 10 hectares in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse. Dominated by Merlot (65 to 88% depending on vintage), complemented by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, Valandraud produces wines of exceptional concentration, aged 18 to 30 months in 100% new oak barrels, recognized worldwide for their richness, velvety texture and ageing potential.
