Château Trottevieille

Château Trottevieille, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion since 1955, extends over 12 hectares in the northeastern part of the appellation. Owned by the Castéja family since its acquisition by Marcel Borie in 1947, the estate rests on a unique terroir of 30 to 40 centimetres of clay over limestone bedrock, a rare feature shared only with Château Ausone. The vineyard comprises Merlot (49%), Cabernet Franc (46%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%), including an exceptional pre-phylloxera Cabernet Franc parcel planted in 1868. Led by Philippe Castéja since the 1990s, the estate inaugurated new facilities in 2022 equipped with 26 vats, enhancing parcel-by-parcel vinification and blending precision.
