Wine characteristics
Clos la Coulee De Serrant
The Clos de la Coulée de Serrant, a 7-hectare monopole of the Joly family in Savennières, forms an appellation contrôlée in its own right — a privilege shared only with Romanée-Conti and Château-Grillet. Planted in 1130 by Cistercian monks, this historic vineyard produces a legendary Chenin Blanc, farmed biodynamically since 1984, on red schist overlooking the Loire. Virginie Joly continues today the pioneering work of her father Nicolas, a global icon of biodynamic viticulture.
