Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin is one of the leading estates in Côte-Rôtie, established in Ampuis for six generations. Founded in 1983 by Jean-Michel Gerin, the domaine now extends over approximately twenty hectares in the northern Rhône Valley, covering the appellations of Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, and Saint-Joseph. Managed for several years by his sons Michaël and Alexis, the estate produces internationally acclaimed wines known for their controlled power, depth, and ageing potential, exemplified by the emblematic single-vineyard cuvées Les Grandes Places, La Landonne, and La Viallière.

Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin Les Grandes Places Côte-Rôtie 2021 represents the pinnacle of Northern Rhône winemaking. Sourced from a tiny 1.4-hectare lieu-dit planted on micaschist in Côte-Rôtie, this 100% Syrah wine comes from century-old vines planted as early as 1924 by the Gerin family. Aged 20 months in 40% new oak barrels, the 2021 vintage expresses the mineral tension characteristic of a fresh year marked by frost and reduced yields in the Northern Rhône Valley.
