Domaine Pilon Julien

Julien Pilon is a producer-négociant based in Chavanay, in the heart of the northern Rhône Valley. Established in 2010 without land or cellars, the estate has emerged as a rising star through a range of refined dry whites and appealing reds — Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Côte-Rôtie, Cornas — crafted with precision and finesse. Awarded one star in the Revue du Vin de France Guide Vert in 2022, Julien Pilon embodies a generation of winemakers bringing freshness and modernity to Rhône crus.

The Frontière cuvée from Domaine Julien Pilon, 2020 vintage, embodies the northernmost expression of Syrah in the Rhône Valley. Sourced from the Seyssuel terroir on the left bank of the river north of Vienne, this 100% Syrah takes its name from its geographical position: a climatic and viticultural frontier between the northern Côtes du Rhône and Beaujolais. A characterful red wine aged 18 months in barrels, revealing the mineral power of Seyssuel's schist soils.
