The Loire Valley and Centre, located in the northwest of France, is one of the most famous and diverse wine regions in the country. It stretches along the Loire River, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Centre region, passing through varied landscapes and unique terroirs.

Among the most renowned appellations, we find:

    • Muscadet : Located near the Atlantic Ocean, the Muscadet appellation produces dry white wines from the Melon de Bourgogne grape variety. These wines are fresh, mineral, and pair perfectly with seafood and fish.

    • Savennières : Further east, on the right bank of the Loire, the Savennières appellation stands out for its dry white wines made from the Chenin Blanc grape. These wines offer beautiful complexity with aromas of stone fruits and mineral notes.

    • Anjou : Continuing eastward, the Anjou appellation produces a wide range of wines, including reds, rosés, dry whites, and sweet wines. The red and rosé wines are made from grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, while the whites are often made from Chenin Blanc.

    • Saumur : This appellation produces red, rosé, and white wines. The red wines are made from grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The white wines are produced from Chenin Blanc and are often sparkling, creating sparkling wines called "Crémant de Loire."

    • Chinon : Further east, on the left bank of the Loire, Chinon is renowned for its red wines made mainly from the Cabernet Franc grape. These wines are distinguished by their aromas of red fruits, freshness, and finesse.

    • Touraine : This extensive appellation encompasses a variety of wines, including reds, rosés, and whites. The red wines are made from grape varieties such as Gamay and Cabernet Franc, while the white wines are produced from Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc.

    • Vouvray : This appellation produces delicate white wines from the Chenin Blanc grape. Vouvray wines can be dry, or sweet, offering a range of aromas from citrus fruits to exotic fruits, honey, and dried fruits.

    • Sancerre : East of the Centre region, Sancerre is world-famous for its white wines made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape. These wines are fresh, lively, and reveal aromas of citrus fruits, boxwood, and minerals.

  • Pouilly-Fumé : Located across the Loire River from Sancerre, the Pouilly-Fumé appellation also produces dry white wines from the Sauvignon Blanc grape. These wines are characterized by delicate and smoky aromas, as well as lively acidity.
